Exposed: The Dreaded ‘Mchele Babes’ Of Kamakis Area

Three dangerous ladies in their mid-thirties were arrested after they spiked drinks belonging to three revelers with a chemical leading to the revelers turning into zombies.

The women had been invited by the men for a night out at a nyama choma joint at Kamakis along the Eastern bypass.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations report, three men had visited Green Spot Gardens for drinks where they spotted the three women and invited them to share a table.

DCI identified the ladies as Hellen Wambui, (36), Irene Wairimu, (30) and Fidelis Wambui, (34), who first acted hesitant to the invitation but later joined the three man and continued to drink together.

“Initially, the women pretended to be hesitant but one of the men quipped humorously: “Maitu, yumbukaga na kiria imeretie. (It flies with what it has swallowed, said DCI.
“That statement seemed to have worked the magic and the women giggled as they joined them in tearing away the marinated, juicy goat ribs and washed it down with rounds of drinks,” DCI added.
“The men filled with boyish excitement enjoyed their new-found company as hit song Wendo Wi Cama by popular Kikuyu musician Samidoh and Joyce Wamama rented the air, setting the mood for a happy ending.”

The men were however unaware that their drinks were laced with a stupefying substance which the women used to woo them into falling bait to their intent.
But the bartender working at the eatery noticed suspicious activities around the table where the six were and immediately informed police officers who arrived at the premise and apprehended the three ‘mchele babes’ and took them to Ruiru Police Station.

The phenomenon is known in slang as “mchele” (rice) because the drugs used by these criminals resemble grains of rice. Another popular term for the drugs is “Pishori”, which is a tasty variety of rice. The women who engage in the vice are getting known as “Mchele babes” or “Pishori Ladies”.

These thieves spike “mchele” into the drink or food of victims, who are usually too drunk to notice. The victim then falls asleep within minutes and that’s when the thieves (mchele babes) rummage through the victim’s belongings, taking money, jewellery, mobile phones, credit cards and other valuables.
