Minet Kenya, the administrator of the Teachers’ Medical Scheme, has today enlisted the services of six county government hospitals in Kericho County that will benefit over 8,000 teachers and their dependents a population of about.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the medical facilities at Kericho County Referral Hospital grounds, Minet Kenya CEO, Mr. Sammy Muthui said the move was part of the Company’s strategy to increase access and bring medical services closer to teachers.

“Over the last few years, we have expanded the Teachers’ Medical Scheme to five hundred and seventy medical centers in the country. This is a true testament to our commitment to empowering teachers who are a critical part of society. We will continue to contribute actively to the health sector through our initiatives to promote good health and wellbeing,” said Mr. Muthui.

Under the expansion, Minet has enlisted Kericho County Referral Hospital, Londiani Sub County Hospital, Kapkatet Sub County Hospital, Roret Sub County Hospital, Soin – Sigowet Sub County Hospital, and Fort Tenan Sub County Hospital bringing the total number of medical facilities under the scheme to five hundred and seventy, countrywide.

Since its inception, the panel of medical facilities for the Teachers’ Medical Scheme has predominantly been composed of private and faith-based hospitals.

We have heeded our teachers’ requests for a variety of options, especially for specialist treatment, and as a result, we are in discussions with other counties to continuously open county hospitals so that teachers can receive medical care in every Sub-County across the country,” added Mr. Muthui.

On his part, Kericho Governor Paul Kiprono Chepkwony lauded the efforts made by Minet and called for more public-private partnerships within the healthcare ecosystem.

In addition to the six-county and sub-county hospitals, teachers in Kericho County now access services in a combination of public, private, and faith-based hospitals including Siloam Hospital, AIC Litein Cottage Hospital, St. Leonard’s Hospital, and Greenview Nursing Home.

Currently, the Teachers Medical Scheme covers over 1.2 million lives, including 345,000 registered teachers and their dependents. Members are urged to dial *202*06# to view the list of hospitals in their county and country.
