Mike Sonko ‘Sold’ Nairobi For Ksh320 Million

Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko surrendered some County Government functions to the National Government pursuant to Article 187 of the Constitution yesterday evening.

The county has existed for nearly 2 years without a deputy governor after the resignation of Polycarp Igathe.

It would have been easier if the county had a deputy during the time Mike Sonko was facing corruption charges.

Mike Sonko was on his way to be impeached over the Ksh324 million garbage tender scandal where he reportedly received kickbacks.

The tabling of the motion which was supported by majority of the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) was on its final stretch and the County Speaker Ms Beatrice Elachi had given the governor a one week grace period to defend himself over allegations of corruption.

In short, Sonko made it easy for Nairobi to fall prey to the greedy hoverong vultures of the National Government.

In an easy escape route, Mike Sonko transfers the most important County functions to Uhuru Kenyatta who has run down the economy and in turn Sonko gets a reprieve from his cases.

Sonko sold Nairobi for Ksh324 million only.
