Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Tuesday found himself at the receiving end of numerous criticism from a section of online users who castigated him over the ongoing floods in some parts of Nairobi.
According to the majority of those who aired out their frustrations, the City-County Chief has failed on his mandate in addressing pertinent issues concerning the heavy rains that continue to wreak havoc in his county.
In the pictures going viral on social media, numerous roads have been rendered impassable with residential apartments turned inaccessible.
The heavy rains have also unmasked the inability of the Sonko-led government to address the garbage collection issue with sewerage lines reportedly blocked.
“Enough is enough! We are tired of having a clown running Nairobi city. #ArrestSonko,” tweeted Rasta Ogonji.
Besides, heaps of garbages have been pictured along the streets of some apartments which a section of the online users claimed was in Nairobi.
Also, some ground floors of major buildings in the city also found themselves on the receiving end of the biting floods after their premises were flooded.

On Sunday, Governor Sonko said that disaster management officers from his government were deployed in all Nairobi Sub-Counties.
The Governor urged residents to be vigilant and use the hotline numbers issued by the county when in need of help.
He added that his government had done what it could to ensure the safety of city residents.
“We have been unclogging drainage systems and setting up new ones in areas we are rehabilitating roads,” said Sonko.
“In Nairobi when there is fire, the fire engines arrive minus water, then when it’s raining & flooding buildings the fire engines come to rescue you from water.#ArrestSonko.”
On Tuesday the Governor wrote on his Facebook:
“This season, the rains are heavier than usual across Africa and is expected to continue for several weeks. Kenyans need to be extra vigilant to avoid heavy stormwater and floods.
We appeal to residents to avoid driving through or walking in moving water or open fields, and not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows to minimize exposure to lightning strikes.”
