Senators have endorsed a committee report reprimanding Senators Mary Seneta and Beatrice Kwamboka who engaged in a fistfight two months ago to apologise to colleagues from the bar.
Deputy Speaker Sen. Margaret Kamar on Tuesday declared the two nominated lawmakers strangers in the house as she ordered the serjeant at arms to kick them out of the chambers.
“I undertake to abide by the standing orders and the leadership and integrity chapter,” Senator Kwamboka said.
She was the followed by Seneta also took to the dais and apologised.
“I do hereby tender my apology to this House having acted in a manner that was in breach of powers and privileges and integrity of Parliament and its members . I undertake to abide by the constitution and the rule of law,”she said.
The deputy speaker has accepted the apologies as he allowed them to resume them to take their seats.
They two clashed on July 1 during the election on of Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina as vice-chairman of the Health Committee.
They tore into each others clothes, exchanged fists and plunged into each other’s throat and later downplayed it as a sisterly fight.
The fight broke out after Ole Kina was declared the winner of the contested election where he was facing off with Senator Seneta.
Seneta was backed by a section of the committee members led by Deputy Majority Chief Whip Farhiya Ali who was accused of forging Senator Millicent Omanga’s signature to tilt the win in favour of Seneta.
Omanga did not declare who she was supporting for the but it is the forgery of her signature that triggered a bitter catfight between the two senators. She was not in the chambers when the two fought.
