Uhuru, Ruto to attend separate fundraisers in Murang’a

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to visit to Murang’a county on today (Sunday) ahead of release of BBI report that has ignited a stormy debate in the president’s backyard.

The Building Bridges Initiative task force was put up by Uhuru and Opposition chief Raila Odinga after their 2018 March handshake has been ready with the report from last and only waiting for a date with the president.

The president is already aware of the contents but preferred to handle it after the Kibra by election last week. Politicians including governors, Mps, and CSs from Mt. Kenya region have issued conditions to back the report.

they have stated that they will not back the report by the Yusuf Hajji team if it recommends a total overhaul of the executive. They claim that a move from presidential to parliamentary system of government will disadvantage their people.

The president will be attending a church service at the ACK Kenol, Murang’a county for an end-of-the-year thanksgiving event. Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata said the President had promised to visit the church early in the year.

Kangata who was at the state house with Bishop Julius Karanu to get a bust that the president was buying for a secondary school in the county.

But on the same day in Murang’a County, Deputy President William Ruto will also tattend a fundraising at Githumu ACC&S church in Kandara constituency, few kilometres of kilometers from the President’s event.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Ruto’s ally, said the fundraising ceremony was organized long before anybody new that the President Uhuru would also be visit Murang’a on the same day. He assured the people that he will attend the president’s event because he is their party boss.

Some politicians like Moses Kuria have accused President Uhuru’s administration of neglecting the region in terms of development despite him drawing most his support from the region. Such claims have divided Jubilee into Uhuru, Ruto factions or ‘Kieleweke’ and ‘Tangatanga’ respectively.
