Police in Mombasa have arrested eleven members suspected to belong to the outlawed Wakali Kwanza gang group that has been terrorising residents of Kisauni and Nyali sub counties.
Suspects were arrested in their homes and some at the road sides and ‘idling corners’ after being identified by informers working with the detectives.
Kisauni OCPD Julius Kiragu confirmed the arrest of the young suspects, mostly between the ages of 15 to 25 years who are belong to Wakali Kwanza gang group that is behind many criminal activities in Kisauni and Nyali.
On Sunday morning a gang group armed with knives and machetes raided and attacks the locals.
Victims of the attacks were treated and discharged at the Coast General Hospital.
Police have blamed the members of the community f being reluctant when it comes to sharing information or security Intel with the police.
Many criminal activities in these sub counties mostly occur when the schools are closed, an indicator that many school going children are being recruited into militia and organised gang groups.
No weapons were recovered by police from the suspects.
