COAST POLICE boss Rashid Yakub says officer captured on video drawing a gun and demanding bribe from boda bodas was fired, to appear in court. DP Ruto has been slammed by Netizens after sharing the video of cops fighting for bribes on his Twitter handle.

Action has been taken against a police officer who was caught on camera soliciting for bribes from Boda Boda riders in Magarini, Kilifi County, Deputy President William Ruto said on Tuesday morning.

In a tweet, DP Ruto stated that the matter was brought to his attention by Magarini Member of Parliament Michael Kingi.

In a video that has surfaced online, the officer was filmed fighting two Boda Boda riders transporting charcoal in Magarini area after they refused to bribe him.

Two police officers were caught on tape fighting two boda boda riders transporting charcoal in Magarini constituency, Kilifi County.

In the seven-minute video, one officer appears drunk while the other clashes with the riders. He is heard demanding for a bribe.

The riders blatantly defy the orders forcing one of the officers to draw his firearm. The officer, now angry at the riders, waves the gun at them as the heated argument attracts a small crowd.

At some point, the gun brandishing officer is asked to identify himself. He replies that he is not a Kenya Police officer.

In the video one also notices that the police car is without number plates hence raising the question whether the two really are law enforcers.

The government banned charcoal trade in 2017 forcing traders to seek business in neighboring Uganda. When imposing the ban, the government was worried about the destruction of the environment with the assumption that most of it is acquired from government land.

But reports indicate that charcoal is sourced from privately owned land hence rendering the ban ineffective.

Some KOT members were wondering why DP was the one to take up the matter with others labeling him “blogger”. The DP later deleted the videos after Kenyans on Twitter labeled him a ‘blogger’.

This has also been related with the ongoing bad blood and alleged deep divisions between him and the Ministry of Interior boss Fred Matiang’i and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

“You have been reduced to posting videos of what Kenyans go through, just resign bratha ????????,” Dnamano wrote.

Another Kenyan wondered why a whole Deputy President’s account would be tweeting  such matters:

“Itumbi certain things you leave for news anchors and bloggers to tweet. This is a whole DP’s account tweeting news? SMH,” a Tweep by the name Kenya West wondered.

“What is going on here? Why is a whole Deputy President blogging? Where is  @OleItumbi . This is Itumbi’s job. Heh! Bwana DP, kweli #Utawezana na blogging? Sir Mancini Mancini scoffed

“Ruto has once more assigned himself the role government spokesman Cyrus Oguna…ooh!Poor me!” Brian Mamboleo wrote.
